![]() On the road side is a reproduction by Blacksmiths James Ross and David Greig (1890) of the surrounding iron railings that guard the tombs of the Scalinger at Verona. The city of Verona is on the river Adige and is capital of the province of the same name. It is world famous for its Roman amphitheatre and holds continuous opera festivals. It gained its wealth as a city under the Dela Scala family in both the thirteenth and fourteenth century, and its reputation through William Shakespeare. From Romeo and Juliet the city of Verona is well met. Lovers visit Verona in large numbers to attach their love letters on the walls of Juliet's balcony so much so it has to be cleaned and cleared often.
