Whitehaven Time Gun

Whitehaven's Timegun
Whitehaven's gun is a cross between a Mobat (Mobile Battalion Anti Tank ) gun and an Artillery piece. It is fired on a Friday only by volunteers and apparently cost  £ 6,000 to build.

The gun fires 4-bore blanks at one o’clock and can be fired by a member of the public for only £20 a time. There's an idea for cash-strapped Scottish Heritage and the MOD!

Similar to the Edinburgh and other time guns it served as a maritime aid to set a ship's chronometer.

We wish to thank the lads of Whitehaven for their help in this enterprise.
